The man who’s ego blew up in his face.

Many of you, much like us, have been watching the last few days in sheer anticipation for the inevitable explosion – and today, it happened.

It started a long time ago, however, started to erupt about 3 days ago, when Shermon ‘deposed’ Hervey Bay, Bunbury, and Canberra in one go. He claimed their “political agendas” got in the way, but as we reported (and later confirmed), there was a growing dissidence within Reclaim Australia (RA) of people wishing to throw Shermon out, for tainting the movement, and forcing people to sell T-Shirts for his profit that were made on Bangladesh.

It began this morning, after days of whinging, complaining and downright pathetic bitching coming from Shermon’s ‘Great Aussie Patriot’ page about how the rallies were being tarnished by ‘traitors’ to the movement.

Mike Holt (of 10,000 strong islamophobic group Restore Australia) took the opportunity to slap down Shermon publicly.

Mike and Shermon have seemingly butted heads, particularly immediately after the April 4 hate rallies, when both Holt and Folkes ‘stole the limelight’ and took to the media to discuss the rallies. Ever since then, there has been a growing tension. This morning, whilst things were already weakened and shaky, Mike took his stab.

Then, around midday, Reclaim Australia Melbourne took the opportunity to disown Shermon, too. Unfortunately we were unable to grab a screenshot of this. Scott Moerland also took the opportunity to pass Shermon a backhanded slap for his ‘schoolyard’ antics regarding the Mandy Chapman situation, after he sicked his followers onto her.

We would like to take a brief opportunity to thank the many ‘lefties’ who went over to the Reclaim Australia – Hervey Bay page and defend Mandy. Although we will always disagree with both her tactics, rally and ideals, it shows great courage and humanity to be able to help someone being attacked by the far-right regardless of your political persuasion.

After some more whinging, and a growing audience of questioning on the GAP page, Shermon quickly realised the situation was  untenable – something had to be done. We assume he consulted with Neil Erikson, Blair Cottrell and Scott Moerland.

So, what was the result? Well, at about 4PM AEST, Shermon threw in the towel. He disowned Reclaim Australia.

He proclaims that the reasoning was due to ‘political infiltrators’. ReclaimWhat can confirm this is not true.

We have the following information:

  • ReclaimWhat has consulted with many RA admins from around Australia regarding the past few days. One common growing theme was the discontent with Shermon’s behaviour and direction of the rallies. They claimed he was too bogan, hateful, divisive, and associated with Neo Nazis/White Supremacists which was damaging the brand. Particularly Erikson and Cottrell.
  • Shermon registered the ABN for Reclaim Australia AFTER the movement had begun on many pages. His claim to ownership was false, although he built up numbers through hate campaigning, many complained his following was simply causing unwanted attention to the rallies.
  • Shermon claimed political agendas for the reason of the splits, but as many found out, it was to do with the separate image of ‘GAP’ hijacking the RA movement.

After all of these issues became apparent, sometime today, the admins of RA told him it was enough. He was out. Although Shermon does not own any specific trademark to Reclaim Australia, it is likely he will have to drop the imagery, as the copyright is owned by Monika Evers from ‘Stop the Mosque in Bendigo’ who is also reportedly unhappy with Shermon’s behaviour.

This does leave the question, what will happen to Reclaim Australia Brisbane? Shermon obviously wishes to completely ditch the brand, but by having Moerland in his ‘new party’ will likely cause more tensions amongst other RA admins.

After Shermon’s announcement, he released a video. The video detailed his reasoning (which does not differ from the above lies) and made mention of how Aboriginals were ‘ruining’ the Reclaim Australia name with their ever so insistent claim that Australia wasn’t Shermon’s to reclaim. He also made mention that a movement should be run like a ‘business’ with a boss and ‘supervisors’. Not how a business runs, but ok…

People took this badly, particularly his own followers. Some of the most fervent followers of his page threw in the towel at his attitude and actions. People stopped buying his shit.

So, his new group name seems yet to be decided. It seems to be a toss up between ‘United Patriotic Front’ and ‘United Australia Front’.

Where have I seen the name ‘Front’ before?

Could it be National Front (UK) who vehemently oppose non-whites?

Or could it be the fact that far-right self declared fascist party (yes, they identify as fascists, unashamedly) ‘Australia First Party‘ already tried launching that name in 2011?

Regardless, Shermon’s latest ‘committee’ is made up of a man who was charged with harassing a rabbi for being Jewish, circumcised, and demanded “give me the money Jew or else”, Neil Erikson, the boy who takes far too many steroids, self declared ‘Nordic’ who claims xenophilia (different racial breeding) a disease, and took the opportunity to over saturate his profile picture of his blue eyes, Blair Cottrell, disgraced and racist RUAP candidate for Oxley, Scott Moerland, who spent years in a tent in Afghanistan on tour with the ADF, masturbating and reading the Quran, “The F’n Aussie”, who has no idea what ‘xenophobia’ is, and finally, Danny Nalliah, head of the RUAP and staunchly homophobic pastor, who in 2009 claimed the Black Saturday Bushfires in Victoria were the result of laxed abortion laws.

There is a common theme here. Race hate. Probably won’t be long until Nalliah is thrown out for being brown, but time will tell.

Regardless, the next few days should be interesting. Everyone should take a moment to pat themselves on the back for exposing Shermon and his dirty ties, which finally resulted in RA ditching him.

I have read this with great interest
I am a proud RAR member and anti halal campaigner and, was up until a couple days ago pleased to a degree with what Sherman was attempting to achieve I did how ever have some hesitations as his goals seemed to change from the early days and he was aligning himself with certain people that had in my opinion vile views After the split with RAR I thought ( somewhat childishly now) that I could follow both, but I wished to check out Sherman’s admin managers ideals before commiting Which brings me to a point
I am the woman ( who you mention in your blog above ) who sent UPF an IM ( as I did not think it appropriate to put the query on the page) queries regarding Blair Cotterell and I will say I was disgusted with the response and lack of answers I got from his admin ( I am happy to forward the photos to you of the full conversation .
I just wanted you to know that I feel you have written a decidedly good description of how Sherman has evolved into a person who now has certain dubious people around him
I will, probably to your disgust continue to stay with Reclaim Australia movement as I fully support their 24 aims however I will not at all be part of the ever changing gate increasing Sherman aka GAP
I will however continue to watch his pages as he now is stooping to all time lows and is getting caught out
Anyway that’s my say thank you for hopefully taking the time to read my letter to you and by all means contact me should u wish a copy if my queries regarding Blair Cotterell

Wow. You’ve seen the light about Shermon Burgess. Bully for you Charmae. But let’s get this straight….

Burgess wasn’t ‘dubious’ when playing in his band Eureka Brigade, singing about burning f****** mosques and describing the Cronulla unrest as a Muslim holocaust?

He wasn’t dubious as a member of the Australian Defence League and later a sympathiser for it’s offshoot, the Patriot’s Defence League?

He wasn’t dubious when he described most Aboriginals as substance abusing ‘dickheads’ last year?

He wasn’t dubious when he urged his Facebook followers to attend an anti Islam rally earlier this year in Sydney, organised by neo Nazi outfit Squadron 88, who he described as a ‘patriotic group’? – Ross ‘the skull’ May returned the favour by attending Reclaim.

He wasn’t dubious when he urged Facebook followers to read a positive review about him and Reclaim by visiting the white supremacist and anti Semitic site Whitelaw Towers?

    Etc. etc. etc.

No?… So only now he’s dubious because of the responses you have personally received or not received from UPF? How very principled of you to shun him now.

Reclaim Australia under Burgess didn’t ‘evolve’ into a ’24 aim’ haven for racists, bigots and the uninformed. It was devised, designed and patronised by them. You either got punk’d (unlikely), or were happy to turn a blind eye whilst in the fervent throes of last month’s ‘come one come all’ anti Islam love in. Either way, the fact that Reclaim still has your full support, will no doubt lead to more implausible embarrassing excuses and explanations in the future.

Rashid thank you for your informative comments however and I state this emphatically at no time am I happy to turn a blind eye to to any injustice
I do not however see the reclaim rally’s as you call them an anti Islam love in I see Islam serving disgusting injustices I see a religion( political cult?) forcing its archaic views and actions on countries who do not agree with their beliefs I see a religion of 2 % within Australia forcing via threats, I’m a victim mentality, intimidation, food and anything else certification, on we Australians who have far different beliefs and values I do understand tht not all Muslims and those who follow Islam are of the same mindset but its about time they spoke up loudly against the radicals, but they don’t
So I will stand with anyone who wants this BEHAVIOUR and demands to stop I also will speak out against those within ANY movement who exhibit BEHAVIOUR such as Sherman and some of his admin
I will be up front and honest I want ALL radical Islamists out of Australia I want all halal certification up front and ONLY 2% of each food product ( for the 2% here’s avAilable the rest leave alone I’m a Buddhist and we cannot eat halal by rights ( yet there is a bigger Buddhist population in Australia than Muslim) you don’t hear us demanding demanding demanding
I do not suffer islamaphobia as I have no fear of it what I do fear for is the future of my granddaughters my grandsons and their children should the demands of these radicals are continually accepted
Time to step up everyone against this in my opinion

    >>”I see a religion of 2 % within Australia forcing via threats, I’m a victim mentality, intimidation, food and anything else certification, on we Australians who have far different beliefs and values…”

Australian Muslims, who make up roughly 2% of the population, are Australian. So your false dichotomy of ‘we Australians’ versus an implied ‘other’, encompassing the entirity of anyone and everyone identifying as Muslim in Australia, is a bogus division. And your confused use of language where blame lies upon Islam itself(?), or perhaps just its followers(?), belies a familiar paranoia seen in various other contexts historically.

But let’s give you an opportunity to back up your claims. Show me where or how nearly half a million Australians (2%) are intimidating and “forcing via threats” anything. Explain to me what the “far different beliefs and values” are, that 2% of Australians collectively hold and are forcing upon you.

    >>”I do understand tht not all Muslims and those who follow Islam are of the same mindset but its about time they spoke up loudly against the radicals, but they don’t”

You understand? I don’t believe you. Because how do you know or understand that ‘not all Muslims are of the same mindset’ when you also claim that they don’t speak up? Have some of them told you this on the quiet? Do you have an anonymous survey to share?

The truth is that on planet Reclaim there is neither any meaningful understanding of, nor distinction between, arbitrary terms such as radicals, extremists, fundamentalists, terrorists, Islamists, Islamo-fascists …….and any leftover ‘Muslims’ – automatically worthy of suspicion because they apparently never speak up.

On planet Reclaim the fact that the primary and overwhelming victims of Muslim extremism globally are…other Muslims, is conveniently forgotten in favour of the false tired mantra claiming: ‘because we can’t hear you (any Muslims) condemn, therefore you’re all mostly like them’.

On planet Reclaim, Australian Muslims are one homogenous bloc of a community, not divided by sectarian beliefs, ethnicity or geography. Australian Muslims are all pretty much the same, believing and practicing pretty much the same things.

Being an inhabitant of planet Reclaim makes viewing Muslims so much simpler. Black and white. Us and them.

    >>”I want all halal certification up front and ONLY 2% of each food product ( for the 2% here’s avAilable the rest leave alone I’m a Buddhist and we cannot eat halal by rights ( yet there is a bigger Buddhist population in Australia than Muslim) you don’t hear us demanding demanding demanding”

So who are these Australian Muslims demanding demanding demanding halal certification? I’ve never heard even one. Can you point them out to me?

For someone apparently passionately against halal certification, you seem to be clueless on how and why it operates. The overwhelming majority of halal certification which occurs in Australia is for the lucrative export market, not for the insignificant 2% of the population here. And not all of the 2% Australian Muslims are so religiously observant to care about labelling anyway, so the domestic market is actually even smaller than that.

So you want all halal labelling ‘up front’? Are you implying it’s deliberately hidden? You want it to be strictly only for the small section (2%) of the Australian population who supposedly want it, rather than secretly forced upon everyone? No doubt you also regard it as a ‘tax’ designed to benefit Muslims?

Where have I heard such conspiracy theorising before?….Oh yeah that’s right. The other side of the same coin of bigotted paranoia.

“The bizarre claim by right wing extremists that kosher certification markings on food product labels (“kosher certification” “K,” etc.) cost consumers extra money and represent, in effect, a “kosher tax” to make rabbis rich, is a striking example of the propaganda used by anti-Semites to trick the uninformed into accepting conspiracy charges and stereotypes about Jews.

Other anti-Semitic allegations regarding kosher designation on foods include charges that “the kosher food racket” benefits Jewish organizations while only a small segment of the American population desires such markings, and that even the meanings of the labels are guarded secrets deliberately kept from non-Jews to trick them into paying the “kosher tax””
