James Gilhome isn’t and will never be our primary focus, he is a merely a distraction. As of late, James has been somewhat vocal, adding things to his ‘Extremism is UnAustralian‘ page in his attempt to communicate with us, since he has blocked most of us and our followers from messaging his page. In a quick background run through, James Gilhome is a middle-aged Hobart man, who used to run a page called ‘Islamophobia is UnAustralian’.
One day, he decided to switch sides, and flipped over to our mate Shermon at ‘The Great Aussie Patriot’. Amongst other pandering he has done to Shermon, he is also known to have sent Shermon a $500+ camera for no reason at all, other than in support for the man he used to strongly speak against.
We’re not sure what’s going on up there either.
Anyway, earlier today, though some false profiles which we believe to be him, he was slammed by followers through truth, education and references, all to refute his lies. One particular topic he posted about was FGM.
We have covered FGM extensively before, mentioning it to be a cultural issue, not a religious issue per se. James had posted some questionable commentary to our page which made some of our followers feel uncomfortable. This is why we deleted it. We try to run a simple set of rules in our public arena.
- For one, no YouTube videos are to be posted or spammed on our posts regarding religion, we do not consider this to be evidence.
- Secondly, we do not allow links to biased blogs or commentary from newly-religious persons, or ex-religious persons to be put onto our pages as ‘credible evidence’, why? Because they’re not.
- Thirdly, we do not allow threats of violence, racism, xenophobia, hate speech, or stupidity.
- Lastly, offensive or spam like commentary is not allowed.
All of the above will result in deletion of the comments and likely a ban from the page. We are happy to engage in civil discussion of issues, but leave your temper at the door. James broke these rules. But considering the noise he is making on his page, that none of us are allowed to post on, we decided to make a public response.
James took exception to our website stating that there is an ‘equal split of countries where Christianity and Islam exist, and FGM is practiced.‘
I can understand for some, these words may have been confusing. We did not mean it is 50% practiced by Christians, and 50% by Islam. That would not only be impossible to measure accurately, but most likely is not true. What was meant, is that there is equally countries that practice both religions in nearly all of the nations listed.
Clearly, this was difficult to understand. We have made changes to the said page, and it now clarifies this statement. It also now points out that FGM predates Islam by 900 years, as evidenced in the African Journal of Urology, Sept 2013.
We still stand by our statement that FGM is not a religious issue, it is a cultural one.
We do not have ‘egg on our face’, we don’t really understand your obsessions with eggs either, James.
We hope this clears things up for you, and maybe one day, you can come discuss things in a civilised way with us, without getting angry or calling us ‘retards’, which we still stand by, is offensive when used as a pejorative.
